Greenman in Chestnut

This greenman is not driftwood and has never seen the sea, it began life as a carving doodle at the Belmont Woodfest one year. I took the crude carved face home to finish off in my workshop.
The wood was a piece of coppiced Sweet Chestnut, which I had been working green to make chair components.

The sculpture has a flat back fitted with a mounting plate allowing it to be hung from a screw or nail in a wall.
Approximate height is 2ft and, unseen in this picture, the head of a dormouse is peeking out between the hawthorn leaves on the greenman's head
