Dave's rocking chair

A rocking chair made from cleft wild-cherry, worked while still green amongst the bluebells in the woods, then dried and finished in my home workshop.
The design shows off the contrast between the cream-coloured sapwood and the rich brown heartwood of cherry.
The top rail of the chair back is decorated with a relief carving of a leaping hare with a sickle moon and orion-rising and the seat is made from sisal rope woven according to Mike Abbot's modified Irish pattern.
The chair is not for sale as it is was made for my friend Dave.
