Deepsea desk

The idea for this desk grew from the two thick driftwood planks which form the sides. These had ends cut at a sharp angle and I originally intended them to be the ends of a settle-style bench.

The desk accommodates a standard dining chair and has a space for large flat documents under the sloping front flap, two carved pen drawers, and two slim panelled cupboards. The top shelf has scrolled end caps and the sides are decorated with holed beach pebbles.

All wood used in the construction of this desk was collected along Oare Creek, Faversham, with the exception of the cupboard doors which were taken from an oddment of American walnut that I've had for years.
