Mudflat Table

The top of this coffee table was once a boat-hatch: plywood on a mahogany frame. I found it some time ago, caked in mud, alongside Oare Creek. I have combined it in this piece with some reclaimed front chair legs that I'd also had for a while.

The tabletop has two lines of imprinted birdtracks: a meandering gull and another species which runs in a straight line. This mudflat tabletop also has five carved wooden cockles set into its surface. The rope border provides a touch of colour interest.

I have fitted two hidden drawers beneath the mud: one with a carved ragworm, the other a lugworm.

Tabletop measures approximately 28 inches square, the height is 18 inches.
