Rocking-chair

This rocking chair was made from cleft sweet-chestnut, coppiced locally and worked while still green. Component pieces were hewn roughly to shape with a side-axe, further shaped with a draw-knife and finished with a spokeshave and scraper.
The seat was woven from strips of chestnut bark, and the rockers were cut from lengths of reclaimed oak.
