Rush Hour

This fish-frieze was carved into a length of oak which was kindly given to me by a previous landlord of my local pub; it had been lying around in his beer cellar for ages. I normally reserve my fishy relief carvings for driftwood but in this case the shape of the large fish on the right of the piece was immediately evident. This led to further fish and I soon became obsessed with tesselating the shapes to produce a tightly packed mass of varying shapes and sizes, each fish being intent on its own journey, hence 'Rush Hour'.

Approximately 53 x 10 inches.
